Black Amber / Pre-Workout / Buying Guide
A proprietary blend groups ingredients under a combined amount without necessarily showing how much of each one you get. An individually declared formula lets you compare those amounts before you buy. That difference matters when you are choosing a pre-workout for its ingredients, not just its name.
Black Amber Death Row puts its active ingredient amounts on the panel. You can see the L-citrulline, beta-alanine, L-tyrosine and total caffeine in your serving, then decide whether that combination fits your training routine.
Imagine a label says "Training Blend: 6,000mg" and names three ingredients underneath. That is 6,000mg shared between the ingredients, not 6,000mg of each. It does not establish an equal split either. Without the separate figures, you cannot turn that heading into a reliable amount for any individual ingredient.
This format is familiar on US supplements. FDA guidance explains that individual amounts may be omitted for ingredients within a proprietary blend, while the blend's total and its ingredients are declared. That describes the US label format, not an endorsement of a particular product. FDA supplement-labelling guidance.
The issue has also been examined in sports-nutrition research. A 2019 analysis of 100 pre-workout labels found that an average of about eight ingredients per product appeared in proprietary blends with undisclosed individual amounts. It was a label analysis, not testing of Black Amber or a ranking of today's formulas. Read the original published research.
Death Row Blue Razz lists 5g L-citrulline, 1.6g beta-alanine and 750mg L-tyrosine in its 10.5g level-scoop serving. Those are individual quantities you can compare with the corresponding entries on another product. View the official ingredient panel.
If a competing label instead gives one total for several amino acids, mark the individual amounts as unknown. Do not assume the first ingredient receives all the weight, or divide the total evenly to manufacture a comparison.
Match the ingredient form too. A number for L-citrulline is not automatically equivalent to the same number for citrulline malate. Our L-citrulline and citrulline malate guide explains that distinction.
Death Row also supplies vitamin B6, which contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Its declared amount lets you see that nutritional contribution alongside the rest of the formula. Vitamin B6 function reference. The practical appeal is one measured, flavoured preparation with the ingredients laid out for you, rather than several separate powders to organise.
The Death Row panel contains two caffeine-source entries and a total-caffeine line. Its level scoop supplies 200mg total caffeine: the total is the sum, not a third extra caffeine ingredient.
That is worth checking on any formula. Coffee-derived ingredients, guarana and other sources can contribute caffeine even when their names look different. The FSA advises avoiding supplement servings above 200mg caffeine and accounting for other caffeinated products throughout the day. Do not increase the scoop to chase a larger ingredient number. FSA caffeine guidance.
Death Row is for suitable adults, not children or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Check suitability with a healthcare professional if medicines, a health condition or caffeine sensitivity affects your choice. Use supplements alongside a varied diet and healthy lifestyle.
Once the formula fits, compare the actual preparation and cost. Death Row's 420g tub contains 40 labelled one-scoop servings. Use that serving when comparing its price with another tub, not an oversized scoop chosen to make a different number look impressive.
Then choose a flavour you want to return to. Our Death Row flavour guide makes that final decision easier. Ingredient choice, practical serving and enjoyable flavour belong in the same purchase.
No. A branded ingredient can have its own stated amount. Death Row, for example, lists its BioPerine black pepper extract quantity individually. Read the numbers rather than treating a trademark as a hidden formula.
Not by itself. Compare the relevant individual ingredients, their forms and the serving size. A combined weight cannot tell you how much caffeine, citrulline or any other component it contains.
Yes. A group name is not the problem when the individual amounts are also shown. Look for usable information beside each ingredient instead of judging the formula by the heading alone.
Choose a formula you can compare with confidence. Explore the ingredient amounts and flavours, then shop Black Amber Death Row.
